Advice for new Gymnasts and their Parents...

  • Check out the booster club and gym web-site for meet times and locations.

  • Pack a healthy, but not messy snack for your gymnast for during the meet, they will be out on the floor for up to 3 hours.

  • Don't forget water.

  • No heavy make-up.

  • Earrings should be posts, not dangling.

  • No flashy nail polish, clear is allowable.

  • Hair needs to be neat, pulled back, secure. Check with the coach for there might be a preferred style for your level. Use lots of hairspray and gel.

  • Double check that your gymnast has the required uniform before you leave. Gym bag, warm-up, top and bottom and most important their competitive leotard.

  • Turn off your cell phones or put them on vibrate for the meet.

  • Turn off your flash for the meet, you can take pictures with the flash during awards.

  • Arrive earlier than required....seating is sometimes limited.

  • Most meets have a $5 raffle per session for the gymnasts.

  • NAAG meets have leos and shorts for sale.

  • Double check which gym you are going to be competing at, most towns have more than one.

  • Book Hotel room early if we are going to NAAG or another Eugene gym when the University of Oregon Ducks are playing football at home.

  • If you compete the 8am session you can do the gymnast's hair the night before, start wet and use lots of gel. Do not wait till the meet to do hair.
